February 28, 2010 We have, once again, been feeling compelled to offer a space for gathering. Lake Guntersville has been on our minds, so today we put down the top on the Miata and took a drive under blue skies and sunshine. The lake, which is part of the Tennessee River system, is stunningly beautiful. Atop Taylor Mountain in northern Alabama, beautiful vistas abound. It feels as though there's a different quality to the air, and eagle energy is strong.
We drove up to Lake Guntersville State Park to check out their lakeside cottages, and really became excited with a strong vision of friends, new and old, gathering in the cottages' common areas and on the outside decks overlooking the lake. March has arrived, and with it, our collective impulse of renewal. In a few weeks, flora will begin emerging, with delicious, fresh, bright colors, and especially joyful birdsong. The deep blue waters of the lake feel rejuvenative and call to some ancient and primal place within. Sky, earth, water, flora, fauna, and friends... On the spot, we decided to reserve 2 cabins for the (full moon) weekend of March 26-28. (Spontaneous and last-minute, we understand...but the timing feels right to us!) If we're able to get the cottages we've requested, we'll have an expanse of gentle slope between the cabin and the water, all to ourselves... It was so peaceful sitting by the water today, with a quiet so pronounced we could hear nothing but the peaceful rythym of nature. Truly...something we want to share with others.
Barbara Marx Hubbard, in her book, Conscious Evolution, says that one of the most important things we can do for and with each other during these times, is gather together. In this spirit, let's gather with a conversational focus on Conscious Evolution...what that means to us, how we envision it, what we are doing to create it. We've been having an ongoing dialogue this winter with ourselves and with friends, and have spent a lot of time studying and learning about new paradigm ways of doing things (everything from aquaponic gardening, to alternate forms of exchange, to new perspectives on the mechanics of manifestation.) One thing that has become increasingly clear for us is this: there will be no new paradigm as long as we continue to engage in old paradigm ways. The new paradigm is, by almost every interpretation, envisioned as an experience in freedom -- freedom from dualistic concerns of, for example, 'enough' and 'not enough'. We feel that the physical expression of whatever one might call 'critical mass' is increasingly being expressed by people doing things for the sake of doing them, maintaining a spiritual perspective as the priority. We acknowledge the importance of the value each of last year's Gatherings revealed to us. We acknowledge with equal importance our commitment that anyone who feels moved to spend time in the space our agreement of community provides, be able to do so without worrying about paying a 'price' for the experience. For that reason we are not charging a fee for this Gathering. We want everyone who feels led and has time to join us in late March, to come. If you can pitch in financially, great. If bringing food or some other offering would be your best contribution, great. We are moving into this next phase by experiencing the process of truly engaging in the creative flow of infinite possibility, and we invite you to join us in taking one more step into the new paradigm...
As we hope you can understand, we will not provide the food for this weekend. As soon as we have a good idea of how many are choosing to join us, we'll get an email/phone chain going so we can coordinate potluck meals for the weekend. Our 'ideal' is that the food be simple, organic, local, and seasonal.
We love you, we appreciate you, and we are honored by you!
